Smith Performance Specialties-built cars have swept both the Western
Swing and the Jeg's SPORTSNationals. We would like to congratulate
the following Super Stock drivers on their outstanding performances:
Kevin Helms who won
the Mopar Mile High Nationals at Denver in his '95 Achieva, Mark Faul
who won the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals driving his '98 Grand Am in
Seattle, and Jimmy DeFrank who drove his '98 Grand Am to victory at the
Fram Autolite Nationals in Sonoma.
Hugh Meeks III took
home a victory at the Jeg's Cajun SPORTSNationals in Belle Rose by
taking his '93 Achieva to the final round. The Jeg's Northern
SPORTSNationals was won by Peter Biondo in his '00 Firebird.

In its first National Event appearance, FJ Smith's newly completed 2004
Pontiac Sunfire won Best Engineered Sportsman Car at the Mopar Canadian
Nationals in Grand Bend.
It was an all SPS final at the same race, as both Wally Clark and
Anthony Bertozzi drove SPS built cars to the final round of Super Stock,
with Anthony coming out on top. SPS congratulates both of these
drivers.

SPS is putting the finishing touches on FJ and Victoria's new 2004 GT/AA
Sunfire. FJ is looking forward to working on his latest "test
bed" and Victoria is looking forward to driving it. Their
previous race vehicle, the 2001 Chevrolet S-10 is currently for sale
rolling or turn-key (GT/TB). Please contact SPS with inquiries.

SPS had a very successful 2003 season. In NHRA Super Stock, 5 of
the top 10 points finishers drove their SPS built cars and trucks to
victory. They include number 1 - Peter Biondo, 2 - Jeff
Lane, 5 - Tony DeFrank, 8 - Bill Leber Jr, and 10 - John Coughlin.
SPS also had four divisional champions: Div 1 - Bill Leber Jr, Div 2 -
Peter Biondo, Div 5 - Ricky Ray, and Div 6 - Jeff Lane.
Their victories, with many
other Super Stock racers, lead SPS cars and trucks to appear in 52% of
National Event final rounds, win 40% of National Event races, appear in
48% of Divisional Event final rounds, and win 35% of the Divisional
Races. SPS cars won, in total, 40% of all NHRA Super Stock final
rounds in 2003. This is an accomplishment made by few others in
the drag racing industry.
Sept 27, 2003
SPS congratulates Jeff Lane and Mark Faul on their recent NHRA
wins.
